When the average American thinks of “church,” an interesting picture emerges. It usually involves a building. But it doesn't involve them. Multiple recent studies have shown that a majority of Americans believe in God, but do not see church as necessary for their spiritual growth, or even relevant to their lives. Americans disconnecting with church might be disheartening to us on the one hand, but at the same time it's an opportunity for us to take a fresh look at what "church" was meant to be, when God created it.
