It’s only human — that longing we all feel for purpose and meaning, the dissatisfaction we encounter when our lives don’t reflect what we see as beautiful. And we spend a lot of time on trial-and-error missions seeking purpose, beauty, and satisfaction.

But all of the sudden, Christmas comes along. Sometimes, it feels like Christmas gets us closer to the things we long for. We see some of the best and most generous aspects of human character, and we’re surrounded by extra beauty. Life still happens though, and Christmas isn’t beautiful for all of us. Even if you love the holidays, you often miss the most important things in the hustle-and-bustle.

This year…Let’s slow down. Breathe deeply. Take stock of what you long for, and pay attention — because the fulfillment of all your hopes, dreams, and deep pains is here, among us, and all you have to do is receive Him. His name is Jesus, and he is the God who came to dwell with us and change the world forever.
